What the Night Actually Looked Like

We took over the Rev Wine Bar in downtown Eau Claire for a basic full-face makeup class with a live demo on our model Adrianna. The format was simple — we walked through a complete look from start to finish, step by step, in real time, with people asking questions about their own products along the way.

And there were a LOT of questions. Which is exactly the point.

That’s the thing about being in person versus watching a YouTube tutorial. When something doesn’t make sense or doesn’t work on your specific face, you can just ask. We could look at someone’s eyes, their bone structure, their skin tone, and give them an answer that actually applied to them. Not a general tip. A real one they can use in their everyday life.

BYOMB — Bring Your Own Makeup Bag

One of my favorite parts of the night was our BYOMB format — bring your own makeup bag. We weren’t there to sell anyone more products. We were there to teach women how to use what they already own. That shift in format matters. The beauty industry is really good at convincing you that the reason your makeup doesn’t look right is because you need another product. That’s not always the case. Most of the time it’s one small technique tweak that changes everything.

The Aha Moments

This is my favorite part to talk about because it’s why we wanted to do this class in the first place. There were moments in that room where someone made one small adjustment — a blending technique, a placement shift, the direction they were applying product — and their whole face changed. That’s not a product sale. That’s sharing knowledge. And once you have it, you can’t unknow it.

What’s Coming Next

We got requests. A lot of them. Winged liner. Strip lashes. More technique-specific classes where we go deep on one skill instead of covering a full face. Travis and I are already talking about what the next format looks like, and I can tell you it’s going to be good.
