11/2 - How NYC Makes Coffee-- Without Power
CSJ: I've been lucky enough to never have to go through a natural disaster like a tornado or hurricane that would knock the power off at my house for an extended amount of time. It's tough to wrap my head around what the folks on the East Coast are still going through, many still without power for yet another day.
We're all so used to having electricity when we need it-- from heating our homes, to charging our cell phones, to just being there to turn on the lights. But this thought just occured to me: How do you make coffee when there's no power? A friend of mine posted the pictures on the right of Freddie, the Organic Coffee Guy in New York, and how he's been making his morning coffee. It reminds me of what people do while tailgating at a Packer game outside Lambeau, but of course, it's nowhere near as fun. It does prove the old adage, though, of where there's a will, there's a way. Nice job, Freddie-- and save me an extra strong mug!
